  • I have installed Project ENB and it stutters frequently and the fps drop down to 40ish I think. This is the only mod I have installed, along with 2k textures I think. I've seen people have 100+ mods installed with theses as well and run 60 fps. My rig: Intel i7-4790k MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4g Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR3.
  • Project ENB (with CoT) always gave me issues in certain places (where the FPS would drop to 1-2). That shouldn't be possible with my rig. It is a combination of bad optimization.
  • Highest FPS drops are in Riften so I used Riften for FPS testing. Other random cities and places I tried seems fine. With all mods on I get stable 43 FPS inside and outside Riften (I don't use any mod that highly modifies Riften + at the end I will add mod list to be sure).

I reverted to default ini (removed my custom files, game recreated them) and the fps is terrible - with or without ENB - (probably because of mods that need ini tweaks).
I only modified bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 and uGridsToLoad=7

I am aware that ENB is resource hungry and accepted poor performance thinking my setup could be kinda weak for Skyrim (laptop card with high resolution screen) but when I compare with and without it (shift + F12) I find the fps drop just too big. I have an average of 45 fps in game and when I activate ENB it drops to an average of 15 fps.

uGridsToLoad must be the lowest possible, laptops unable to proceed many visible objects, they are much worse than amd cpu based desktops in that scenario.

Your CPU is faster than your GPU.
That's why you don't get anymore FPS.
Overclock your GPU and you will get more FPS in that scene.
Please upload a screenshot by 'MSI Afterburner' or maybe you understand how things work (CPU-GPU-usage-Gameengine-ugridstoload=x etc.).
In what area do you got 'no difference'?

So I finally managed to update my drivers (14.11.2 Beta) and recovered access to the CCC.
Please check screenshot and tell me if all settings are correct.
I installed MSI AfterBurner 4.0
Anything you want me to do with it ?
I'd rather not burn my graphic card as it would be expensive and complicated to replace.
I saw no differences in outdoors (open landscape).

Control panel setting are fine. If they are used at all and not replaced somewhere.
I think you just need to give up, laptops are crap compared to desktop hardware by videocard horsepower. 2560x1440 resolution cost a lot of video memory, because mod creates many same size internal buffers, you may have performance issue just because of real vram almost full and resources from system memory are drawed. Find good profiler software which show vram usage separately as physical and not shared, start game with the mod and in game first menu check amount of free vram available.

So I figured I could use MSI AfterBurner to monitor my GPU and when I get to the main menu about 550MB Vram is used, I then load my save and after a few minutes I have 1900Mb used. So does that mean the game is saturating my graphic card and I should disable mods or lower texture quality/resolution ?
My computer is an iMac so its a mix between desktop and laptop components.
I tried running the game at 1920x1080 it increases my framerate from about 10 to 12 (outdoors).
How big should my PageFile (Windows) be ? (currently 1024Mb-4096Mb)

Your computer must be working very hard if you only get 10-12 FPS. What is your GPU temperature when you are playing? Best to be careful with this..

Page file size doesn't matter in your case.
then load my save and after a few minutes I have 1900Mb used.

This is too much for amd videocards and for laptops, it upload resources from ram too much frequent. Remove texture mods or decrease resolution of textures in video options

Skyrim Enb Fps Drop Mod

So I stumbled upon this video which was very interesting because it shows FPS with several different ENB and Vanilla.
This confirms there's a huge performance hit with most ENB sometimes even greater than 50% drop. I guess then having 30% of Vanilla on my setup is somewhat normal behavior..
Since there is a significant difference between each of them my question is can you guys tell me what effects/settings hurt performance most ? Is there anything I can do to tweak my ENB so there isn't such a huge drop compared to off !?
In my experience only Ambient Occlusion would clearly affect framerate (by -/+ 1fps), Bloom and Depth of Field only slightly.
I can uninstall texture mods but as far as I remember it doesn't change much.
